After many working bees by a team of volunteers a Rodeo arena area was prepared at the Showground, chutes and fencing borrowed from Gloucester and the inaugural Nabiac Charity Rodeo was staged on the October Long Weekend in 2009 attracting a good crowd.
Big Al Wilson Rodeo Clown entertained spectators and many locals entered the Novice and Celebrity Steer events. A Wood chopping competition was held and Country music artists Matt Zarb, Lianna Rose, Jayne Denham and the Noll Brothers performed till late.
Many local businesses donated sponsorship, goods, labour and machinery to make it a successful community effort. Local community groups ran food and beverage stalls and despite the rain at the end of the night everyone was keen to see the event continue in 2010 vowing to make it bigger and better.
